Acai Berry - Wonder Fruit From The Amazon

Doctors and other health experts have been declaring acai fruit as one of the most powerful fruits in the world. It is not a big fruit, nor is it extremely tasty, but it is packed with nutrients, vitamins and minerals that keep its consumers healthy.

Located in the rainforests of Brazil, in the Amazon, the acai berry grows on palm trees and in appearance is similar to the purple grape. Due to its fatty acid content, acai berry can help reduce the levels of bad cholesterol or low-density lipoprotein and at the same time, maintain the content level of good cholesterol or high-density lipoprotein.

Niacin is an essential compound in the production of ATP or adesonine triposphate which is made into our body’s energy. This is why the acai berry can give energy. Niacin is also helpful in neuro-cellular functions and it can minimize nerological dysfunction.

The acai fruit also contains a high level concentration content of anti-oxidant – even higher than that of the red grapes. In fact, it has 10 times more anti-oxidants concentration. Specific anti-oxidants such as anthocyanins help in the strengthening of the eyesight and also help in the maintenance of levels of cholesterol. You can know that a fruit has a lot of anthocyanins if you can eat its skin. Prime examples of such fruits are grapes and berries. Aside from those benefits, anti-oxidants also act on the free radicals that the body has accumulated. Free radicals can cause disease and illness and it can make the immune system vulnerable. Eating acai berry can help prevent this.
